Description

Eldroth Hall and Eldroth Hall Cottage are a farmhouse and cottage dating from the mid-17th century, with alterations in the 18th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed of slobbered squared rubble with stone dressings, and has a stone slate roof. It has an L-shaped layout. The two-storey, three-bay front has a moulded surround to the centrally-left entrance, which contains a 20th-century plank door. The left-hand bay features a four-light double-chamfered mullioned window on each floor; the ground-floor window is slightly further to the left and has a hoodmould; both windows have 20th-century casements. The central and right-hand bays incorporate large three-light recessed flat-faced mullioned windows with casements and fixed lights on both floors. Gable end ridge stacks are present. The left-hand return includes a two-bay wing to the left of the gable end, featuring two ground-floor and four upper-floor 17th-century two-light chamfered mullioned windows, with mullions replaced in approximately 1980. A left-hand gable-end ridge stack is also present. The building is of group value.
