Description

This garden urn, dating from around 1865, is located on a pedestal approximately 2 meters northeast of the terrace steps on the upper terrace of Miller Park in Preston. The pedestal is made of sandstone ashlar, measuring about 0.5 meters square and 1.5 meters high, featuring a moulded base and cap, along with panelled sides. The urn itself is large and chalice-shaped, adorned with relief decorations that include acanthus leaves, running vines, small figures, and ammonite handles. This urn is one of a row of six that line the upper terrace. The urn and pedestal are currently painted white.
