Description

Green Nook is a house dating to 1779, with later 19th-century extensions and alterations. It is constructed of roughcast and has a slate roof. The house follows a double-depth two-bay plan, with a crosswing added to the right in the 19th century. It is two storeys high and presents a symmetrical facade. A central panelled door is sheltered by an ogival-headed canopy, and above it is a square datestone inscribed “T A : 1779”. The windows are flush mullion windows with glazing bars; the upper floor windows are two lights wide, except for the ground floor window on the right, which has three lights. A corbelled gableted dormer with a steeply-pitched roof and a narrow slit opening rises from the eaves. The original building has a chimney at each gable. The right-hand wing is of less architectural interest. The interior has been altered.
