Description
Hacking Hobs is a house dating from the early 17th century that has been altered over time. It is constructed of rendered sandstone rubble and features a slate roof, forming a T-plan layout. The building stands two storeys tall with an attic.
On the west wall, there are two windows on the ground floor, both with plain stone surrounds; the right-hand window is sashed with glazing bars, while the left is simply sashed. The first floor has a double-chamfered surround that once framed a three-light mullioned window. To the left, there is a single-storeyed gabled extension. The chimney is centrally located, and the gables are topped with copings and kneelers.
The left-hand (north) gable features a sashed window with a plain stone surround on each floor, along with a double-chamfered one-light attic window. The right-hand gable has a cyma-moulded door surround, which is now set within a modern porch, and a tripartite sashed window with square stone mullions. The south wall of the rear wing mirrors this with a similar window on each floor. Inside, there is reportedly a plaque dated 1606 located in one of the ground-floor rooms.
