Description
The Grammar School is a 17th-century school building constructed of rubble with quoins and features a stone slate roof. It has a two-cell plan with the entrance located between the two cells and stands two storeys high. The building includes one eight-light window with a king mullion and one five-light window on each storey. The ground floor windows are adorned with returned drip labels. A two-storey gabled porch features a moulded doorway with a four-centred arch beneath a square head. Above the doorway is a wide dripstone with a semi-circular lift in the centre, suggesting the presence of an inscription. The first floor has a two-light window with labels, and the gable includes a square panel that may be a blocked single-light window, along with a finial at the apex. Most of the windows retain their original leaded lights, some of which are tinted, and there are gable chimneys.
