Description

Church Well is a wellhouse built in 1764. It is constructed from rubble with a stone slab roof and has an octagonal shape, featuring coping and a monolithic cap and ball. The coping is inscribed with the words: "H RICHARDSON RECTOR Fontem huic salutiferum et perantiquum tecto munivit Anno Aerae Christianae MDCCL XIV Quod Publicae Sanitati bene vorcat," which translates to "H Richardson Rector furnished this ancient and health-giving spring with a roof in the year of the Christian Era 1764, to turn it to the public good."
