Description
Thornton House is a house from the late 18th century, constructed of squared dressed stone with a stone slate roof. It stands three storeys high and features quoins and outer brackets. The building has three bays that were originally symmetrical around a pedimented doorcase. A 19th-century castellated canted bay has been added to the left side. The windows are four-pane sashes with plain stone surrounds, except on the second floor where the left and centre windows have been changed to casements. The gable end facing the street includes a tall round-headed attic window, and there are gable stacks. The interior has not been inspected.
