Description

Elm Tree House is a house dating from the later 18th century, situated on the north side of Main Street in Thornton-in-Craven. It is constructed of dressed stone with a slate roof. The house presents a symmetrical facade of three bays over three storeys. Rusticated quoins are present, and the building features a modillion cornice. The front entrance has a half-glazed door with a fanlight, set within a doorcase featuring Tuscan pilasters that support dosserets and an open pediment. The ground floor windows are paired sashes with glazing bars, set in plain stone surrounds. Above the ground floor, windows are single sashes, with no glazing bars to the first floor. The central window on each upper floor has an architrave. Gable stacks are visible. The rear of the building features recessed square mullion windows of three lights, and a tall, round-headed stair window with glazing bars. The interior has not been inspected.
