Description

The Market Cross is a stone structure dating from the 15th century, although it was extensively restored in 1906. It stands 15 feet high and has an octagonal plan. The column is made up of nine blocks resting on a moulded base and features a brattished cap. There are three steps leading up to the pedestal, which is designed in two stages. The original location of the cross was at the corner of Windy Bank and Market Street.
