Description

A range of five cottages built in the 1820s. The central tablet indicates the builder, Hartley, and the year AD 1823. The cottages are constructed of stone with a stone slate roof, stone coping, kneelers, and decorative gutter corbels. The front elevation features windows to each cottage, originally sash windows, with a doorway located below the right-hand window. The windows are now modern casements, set within flush surrounds. Two cast iron rainwater pipes with shaped heads remain visible on the front of the building, and a similar pair is present at the rear. The rear of the cottages rises to 3 storeys, while the front is 2 storeys.
