Description
Blacko Tower, also known as Stansfield Tower, is a folly tower built in 1890 by J. Stansfield and restored in 1950. It stands approximately 30 feet high and features a circular design made of coursed rubble. The tower has widely spaced battlements and a plain doorway that is accessed by two steps. Inside, there is a spiral stone staircase that leads to an observation platform. This tower is a prominent landmark situated on a hilltop. A plaque on the tower includes a biblical reference from Psalm 127, which reads: "Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labour in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain."
