Description
This former warehouse, located behind Number 5 Great John Street, dates from around 1800 and was converted into flats in 1994. It appears to have been built as part of the rear extension of Number 5. The structure is made of coursed sandstone rubble and features a stone slate roof. It has a deep rectangular plan and stands four storeys above cellars. A central loading slot is situated under a projecting gable, flanked by windows on the first and second floors. On the ground floor, there is a window to the left and a doorway to the right that leads up five steps to an internal staircase. The top floor includes a window on the left and a round arch for the loading slot, which was designed to accommodate a crane that is no longer present. All openings have plain surrounds, and the joinery is from the later 20th century.
