Description
This building is a shop adjoining number 22 on Main Street in Heysham, dating from the 17th century and altered over time. It has a roughcast exterior and a concrete tile roof, consisting of one storey with an attic. On the right side, there is a rebated and chamfered fire window, with a sashed window to its left featuring a plain stone surround. Above these, under the eaves, is a small window with plain reveals. To the left, a doorway has a chamfered surround made of redressed moulded stones and an embattled lintel. The date '1629' is a mid-20th century addition. A chimney is located on the right side. The left gable wall features a three-light rebated and chamfered mullioned window that provides light to the attic. The shop section on the right includes a window with plain reveals and two shop openings, each with a doorway and shuttered window. Inside, there is a chamfered main beam supported at one end by a firehood bressumer, along with an 18th-century shouldered stone fireplace that has 20th-century infill.
