Description

Buckstone House is a house built in the early 19th century and late 19th century, with possible earlier remains. It features limestone and sandstone dressings and has a slate roof. The main facade faces east and consists of two storeys with an attic. The right side has a three-bay section with a central entrance and limestone dressings dating to around 1800, while the left side has a gabled cross-wing with later 19th-century sandstone dressings.

The right-hand portion includes sashed windows with glazing bars and plain stone surrounds. The door is framed by a plain stone surround and a porch supported by plain round pillars with square block capitals, which holds a small balcony adorned with decorative iron railings. The facade is accented by a string course and a stone gutter. The roof is half-hipped at the right end, featuring two stacks aligned along the ridge and additional stacks to the left of the first bay.

The left-hand cross-wing has tall 19th-century mullioned windows with chamfers and slight rebates. On the ground floor, there is one window with one light and another with four lights, while the first floor has two windows with two lights each. The attic window consists of two round-headed lights with a plain stone surround and a square mullion. The gable is finished with coping, kneelers, and a stone fleur-de-lys at the apex. To the left, there is a lean-to extension featuring a three-light 19th-century mullioned window on the ground floor and a sashed window with a plain stone surround on the first floor. The left-hand return wall displays 19th-century dressings, but the masonry suggests that it may have been part of an earlier building.
