Description
No 2 Town End is a house dated '1640' on a lintel, constructed from pebbledashed rubble with sandstone dressings and a slate roof. It features a two-unit central-entry plan with a chimney on the right-hand gable. To the left of the door is a rebated and chamfered surround that was formerly a two-light window. To the right of the door is a three-light rebated and chamfered mullioned window, with the second and third lights separated by a king mullion. Above the doorway on the first floor is an enlarged rebated and chamfered surround, with a two-light chamfered mullioned window to the right. The moulding of the door jambs extends upwards to form an ogee on the lintel. Above the lintel is a flat stone doorhood supported by shaped brackets. Inside, the right-hand room has a firehood bressumer, a heck post, and an 18th-century shouldered fireplace.
