Description
The Eastern Barn, once known as Lancaster Cottage, is a barn that likely started as a house in the late 17th century and has been altered over time. It is constructed of sandstone rubble and features a tile roof, standing two storeys high. The south-west wall has three doorways with plain reveals, except for the right-hand doorway which has a chamfered surround. To the left of this doorway is a window with plain reveals, while to the right is a blocked rebated and chamfered window that retains one mullion. On the first floor, there are two pitching holes. The lower storey on the right side is covered by a later lean-to addition. Within this addition, there is a stone set into the front wall of the original building, inscribed with 'GEP 1677'.
