Description
Moss House and the attached barn are located in Morecambe and date back to 1697, although the house has been altered over time. The house is rendered and features a slate roof, standing two storeys tall with an attic. The original façade, which faces the garden to the east, consists of three bays. The windows are mullioned and have rebated and chamfered surrounds. The left bay includes a conservatory on the ground floor and a former two-light window above, where the mullion has been removed. Above the central porch, there is a two-light window. The right-hand windows, originally three-light, now retain one remaining mullion each. A 20th-century flat-roofed dormer is located to the left. Inside the porch, there is a moulded stone door surround with a lintel inscribed: '16 RSA 97'. There are chimneys on both the left and right sides of the house.
The west façade, which faces the road, has two bays. The windows here are either chamfered or rebated and chamfered, except for the right-hand ground floor window, which has plain reveals. A mid-20th-century single-storey gabled porch has been added to the center. The interior features axial main ceiling joists and an original chamfered sandstone fireplace in the parlour with a cornice mantel.
The attached barn, located to the right, is constructed of render and cobble with a stone slate roof. An outshut is positioned against the front wall, returning along the right-hand gable wall, and also has a slate roof. To the left of the outshut, there is a cart entrance with a timber lintel.
