Description
Nos. 217, 219, and 221 Marine Road Central are three shops with living accommodation, originally built as three houses known as 'Craven's Terrace' in the early 19th century. The buildings are rendered and topped with a slate roof, standing three storeys tall. The ground floor has been completely altered in the 20th century, while the upper storeys remain largely unchanged. They feature painted quoins on the left, glazing bar sash windows, and a cornice gutter. Each former house has one bay on the left and a projecting bow on the right, which includes three windows on each floor. Notably, the left-hand bay of No. 221 is blank on the first floor, but there is a bowed oriel that projects from the left-hand return wall, featuring sash windows that face Northumberland Street. Each house has chimneys located on the right side. No. 217, located on the right, houses Brucciani's café on the ground floor, which retains some Art Deco features, including fascia lettering, entrance doors, and wall panelling with inset mirrors, a clock, and a picture.
