Description
This is a farmhouse, originally built in 1628, with significant alterations made later. It is constructed of stone rubble, rendered and scored, with sandstone dressings, an ashlar porch, and a slate roof. The main facade is two storeys high and features a two-storey porch centrally located. Above the porch and to either side are three windows on the first floor, each with a moulded architrave and a segmental head. A ground-floor window on the left-hand side has a large chamfered surround. The window on the right-hand side is a six-light design with a shallow chamfer, mullions, and a transom. The porch has a doorway in its left-hand return wall, a string course, and a gable with kneelers and a ball finial. A date of 1628 and illegible initials are carved beneath an arched hood above the right-hand first-floor window. A single chimney sits on the ridge, slightly left of centre. The left-hand gable is coped with kneelers, and contains a chamfered doorway. The rear wall has a cross window with a segmental head, mirroring the detailing of the front ground-floor window on the right-hand side. Inside, a fireplace has a cambered head, and the mantel displays “L 1628 F 1891”. The right-hand gable, partially obscured, has two two-light double chamfered stone mullioned windows with hood moulds, typical of the early 17th century.
