Description
Newbanks Cottage is a house built in the mid 18th century and later in the 19th century. The front is made of rubble pebbledash and features a slate roof. It is a two-unit house with later extensions, standing two storeys tall and having four bays. The earlier part of the house, located to the north-west and set back from the road, is situated between the two left-hand chimney stacks and has windows with shallow chamfered flush mullions. The window in the first bay has two lights, while the second bay has three lights. The first-floor windows also have two lights. The right-hand portion of the house is either a later addition or a conversion, featuring deep chamfered mullioned windows with large lights and tooling marks. There is a gabled porch with carved bargeboards that includes a one-light window in the gable and an entrance on the right-hand return wall. On either side of the porch are three-light windows, with two-light windows above on the first floor. A chimney is located to the right of the porch. The gable facing the road has projecting bracketed eaves and recent mullioned windows that have replaced a bay window.
