Description
The Beeches is a house from the 18th century that contains elements from the 17th century. It is constructed of sandstone rubble and has a slate roof. The main house features a central entrance and end stacks, with a wing extending at right angles towards the road at the north end. The building has two storeys.
The windows in the main house have been reconstructed from 17th-century designs, originally featuring rebated and chamfered details, but now have plain lintels and extended mullions. Most windows are three lights, except for the ground-floor window to the left of the door, which has four lights. The door is framed by a plain stone surround.
At the rear, there are rebated and chamfered mullioned windows with two and three lights. The west wing has a chimney located in the gable facing the road. The windows in this wing have plain reveals, except for one on the first floor of the north wall, which has a rebated and chamfered surround but is missing its central mullion.
In the angle between the wing and the main house, there is a lintel with raised lettering that reads 'CF 1680', along with the right-hand moulded jamb of a former doorway.
