Description
Aughton Old Hall is a late 17th-century house located on Main Street in Halton-with-Aughton. It was originally listed as Aughton Hall. The house is constructed from sandstone rubble with a slate roof, and features gable stacks. The building has a two-unit plan with a central entrance. It is two storeys in height, with five bays. To the left of the porch are two windows with rebated and chamfered square window surrounds, each having a central mullion removed. To the right is an altered window containing a modern casement and plain reveals, alongside a chamfered one-light fire window. The first floor has five windows, all two-light with a rebated and chamfered surround, except for the right-hand window, which has plain reveals and a modern casement. The gabled porch, constructed of rock-faced stone in the late 19th or early 20th century, has a side entrance. An original stair wing to the north has been extended to the west.
