Description

Hall Gowan is a house dating from the early to mid-19th century. It is pebbledashed with sandstone dressings and quoins, and has a slate roof. The three-bay front facing south-east features all-sashed windows with glazing bars in plain stone surrounds. The front door has a plain stone surround topped with a cornice hood. The eaves project on shaped wooden brackets. The left-hand end of the roof is hipped, while the right-hand end is gabled and features a chimney stack. A tripartite French window with stone mullions is set into the south-west wall. A canted bay window with sashed windows and glazing bars is located at the right-hand end of the south-west wall. The first floor has three sashed windows with glazing bars in plain stone surrounds. A battlemented lintel inscribed 'IH 1694' has been re-set above a rear doorway.
