Description
Yew Tree Cottage is a house dating from 1700, constructed of slobbered rubble with a blue slate roof. It is two storeys high and has three bays. The windows are rebated and chamfered with mullions; some have sashed lights with glazing bars, while others are fixed with glazing bars. On the first floor, the windows are arranged as two lights, while on the ground floor, the left side features a four-light window, and the right side has a sashed window with a stone surround. The central bay contains the door, which is sheltered by an open timber porch and has a chamfered surround with a battlemented lintel inscribed with 'BW 1700'. There are chimneys on both the left and right sides of the building.
Inside, the left-hand room showcases a chamfered firehood bressumer and a shouldered fireplace with a cornice mantel, featuring a moulding that sweeps upwards at the centre of the lintel. To the left, there is a spice cupboard with a shouldered door adorned with a marquetry design. The right-hand room includes a dentilled cornice, a built-in corner cupboard with a shouldered raised and fielded panel, and raised and fielded panelling below a dado. Its fireplace is framed by a shouldered timber architrave, a moulded mantel, and a pair of fluted pilasters above.
