Description

Home Farmhouse and the adjoining farm building were constructed in 1891, likely by the architect Douglas. The buildings are made of sandstone rubble and topped with a slate roof, and they stand two storeys high. The windows are rebated and chamfered, featuring mullions. The front wall includes a gabled projecting wing with a drip course that extends around the left side of the structure.

The ground floor of the wing features an eight-light mullioned and transomed window. On the first floor, there are a two-light and a four-light window, both situated under the same hood. At the apex of the wing is a single-light window with an elliptical head. To the right of the wing, there is a door with a moulded surround and a shaped lintel inscribed with the year '1891'. The main facade to the right of the wing has one bay with a three-light window that jetties forward at the first floor level, supported by stone corbels and set beneath a gable. To the left of the wing, the facade features a ground floor cross window. The building has chimneys located to the left of the wing and on the right-hand gable, with gables that are coped and topped with ball finials. The left-hand gable wall includes a mullioned and transomed canted bay window on the ground floor and a four-light window above it.

A single-story link connects the farmhouse to the farm building, which has a gable facing the front. The right-hand return wall of the farm building, which faces south-west, has two chamfered elliptical arches that spring from a central pier, forming the entrance to a cart shed. Above and between these arches, under a small gable, is a loading door. To the right, there is a gable that jetties forward at the first floor level, supported by stone corbels. On the ground floor beneath the jetty, there is a two-light window with a flat-faced mullion, and to its right is a doorway. Another doorway is located on the first floor. The gables of the farm building also have copings.
