Description
The piers, walls, and railings to Carus Lodge, which adjoin Carus Lodge Cottage, were built around 1840 and are made of sandstone. There are six identical octagonal piers, with two at the central gateway and one on each side that forms pedestrian entrances. These piers are connected by a convex stone wall to the outer piers. The west wall is topped with cast iron railings featuring tracery decoration, while the east wall has lost its railings. The piers have castellated tops and are decorated on four sides with gablets and sunken panels that have cusped heads.
