Description

Halton Road Bridge (Number 108) is a road bridge built around 1797 by engineer John Rennie for the Lancaster Canal Company. It is constructed of coursed squared sandstone and features a concave shape with slightly battered abutments. The bridge has a semi-elliptical arch made of large, alternately raised voussoirs, which are set within a plain arch band that includes the keystone. Above the arch, there is a roll-moulded band, and the parapets are topped with rounded coping.
