GRESSINGHAM SD 56 NE 7/85 Pair of gatepiers on south side of garden east of Gressingham Hall

GV II

Pair of gatepiers, early C18th. Said to be removed from The Biggins near Kirkby Lonsdale. Rusticated sandstone ashlar, square on plan, with moulded cornices. Each north face has an Ionic pilaster, with a raised shell carved on the entablature above.
