Description
Eskrigge House is a house, likely built in the mid-18th century, with some remains from the 17th century and later alterations. It is constructed of sandstone rubble and has a slate roof. The house has two storeys and three bays. The windows feature flush chamfered mullions and are typically of two lights, except for the ground-floor window in the second bay, which has three lights. To the right of the first bay, there is a chamfered door surround with a battlemented lintel, which is now blocked and has a window instead. Adjacent to this is a modern gabled stone porch with a door that has plain reveals. The house has chimneys on the gables and to the right of the second bay. The rear wall has a stair window and two small first-floor windows that are of 17th-century style, featuring chamfered surrounds but with their central mullions removed. The left-hand ground-floor window has a lintel taken from a nearby house, inscribed with the word 'DAIRY'; such a window would have been exempt from window tax.
