Description

The Ring o' Bells Public House is a mid-18th century building that has been altered in the 19th century. It is constructed from sandstone ashlar with ashlar dressings and features a slate roof. The building has a double-depth plan with a central extension at the rear and stands three storeys tall with four bays above a cellar. The left corner has raised quoins, and there are bands on two levels along with a moulded eaves cornice.

The main entrance is located in the second bay and features a recessed porch with an impressive pedimented doorcase. This doorcase includes fluted Doric engaged columns, a triglyph frieze adorned with carved military trophies, and a prominent segmental pediment with mutules. To the right, in the fourth bay, there is a doorway with a simple moulded surround and an overlight with margin panes. The first and third bays have shuttered cellar openings. All windows are sashed without glazing bars, featuring moulded architraves, projecting moulded sills, and aprons. The building has gable chimney stacks.

At the rear, the central extension has a carried-down roof and a flat-faced flush-mullion 2-light window on the first floor, with similar windows on each floor to the left and at the first floor to the right. Inside, there is a dogleg staircase with a closed string and turned balusters.
