Description

The Fleece Hotel and stables adjoining to the east is a public house built in the mid-18th century, with some alterations made in the 19th century. The building is constructed from sandstone rubble and has a tiled roof. It consists of two storeys and features a double-pile plan with two bays. The windows are designed with three lights and have flush chamfered mullions, except for the left-hand bay, which contains a later door with a plain stone surround that has been blocked to create a window. This bay is flanked by narrow sash windows with glazing bars and plain stone surrounds. The original entrance, located between the bays, also has a stone surround but is now blocked. There is a chimney on each side of the original house, topped with coping and kneelers.

To the left of the main building is a former barn that has been incorporated into the hotel. On the right side, there is one bay featuring sash windows with glazing bars set in plain stone surrounds. The original barn entrance has been modified to include a wide modern doorway with cement reveals. Further left, there is a modern window with a painted surround, partially located within a blocked doorway. Set back slightly to the left are the stables, which have a slate roof. On the ground floor of the stables, there are three doors with plain stone surrounds, and above the central door, there is a similar door on the first floor, accessed by cantilevered external stone steps. Each side of the first floor features a window with plain reveals.
