Description

Wyreside Lodge is an early 19th-century lodge built as an entrance to Wyreside Hall in Nether Wyresdale. It is constructed from squared sandstone, with punched ashlar facing the south front, and has a hipped slate roof concealed behind a parapet. The design is Greek Revival in style. The lodge is a single storey and two bays wide, featuring a continuous entablature. The south front is distinguished by a distyle Ionic portico with a moulded pediment above the entablature. Doric pilasters flank the front wall, featuring carved acanthus details. Sashed windows with glazing bars are set within plain ashlar reveals. The entrance door has a simple stone surround. Chimneys are located behind the parapet on the left and right sides. An east wall contains three sashed windows with glazing bars.
