Description
The Elms, a house from the early 19th century, features a west front made of punched limestone ashlar, while the other walls are constructed from watershot limestone rubble. The building is two storeys high and has a three-bay west front with sashed windows that include glazing bars and plain ashlar reveals. A staircase is visible, cutting across the windows of the central bay. The gables are topped with chimneys, copings, and kneelers. The entrance is located through an extension against the north gable.
At the southern end of the facade, a concave linking wall connects the house to a stable and coach house made of limestone rubble, topped with a slate roof and gable coping. The west wall of the stable has a blocked wide opening with a segmental arch and a pitching hole with plain reveals above. The east wall features a door and a sashed window, both with plain reveals. Adjacent to the linking wall is a three-sided lean-to.
The rear (east) wall of the house includes a modern lean-to extension, which has three sashed windows with glazing bars and plain reveals on the first floor, along with a similar window to the left on the ground floor. There is also a north extension with two bays towards the east, which is pebbledashed and features sashed windows with plain reveals on the ground floor, as well as sashed windows with plain reveals, glazing bars, and square-sectioned hood moulds on the first floor.
Inside, there is a dog-leg stair with an open string, turned newels, two turned balusters for each tread, and a ramped pine handrail.
