Description

A row of three cottages on Yealand Road, likely dating from the early 19th century and originally connected to a flax mill. The cottages are built of limestone rubble with a slate roof. They are two storeys high. No. 5, the southern cottage, has a door to the right and a double-sashed window with glazing bars and a square mullion to the left, set within a plain stone surround. The other windows in the row have plain reveals. The first floor of No. 5 contains three windows: a central fixed window with glazing bars, and two sashed windows with glazing bars. No. 7 has a door with plain reveals, flanked by a fixed window with glazing bars on the left and a modern window on the right. The first floor has a sashed window on the left and a sashed window on the right. No. 9 has a door with plain reveals, a six-pane sash window to the left, a modern casement to the right, and another sashed window to the right. The first floor of No. 9 has two sashed windows. Chimneys are located on the gables and between Nos. 7 and 9.
