Description
Knott Hill and the barn adjoining to the west are a house and barn built in 1734. They are constructed of sandstone rubble, with a slate roof at the front and a stone slate roof at the rear. The building is two storeys high and has two bays. The windows on the ground floor have three lights, while those on the upper floor have two lights. All windows feature stone surrounds with a slight chamfer and flat-faced mullions.
Between the bays, there is a porch with chamfered quoins and a gable that has coping and kneelers. The porch includes a chamfered doorway with an ogee shape on the lintel. Above the porch, there is an oval plaque inscribed with 'CAL 1734'. The house has end chimneys.
The barn on the left appears to have been built at the same time as the house, but the quoins below the eaves suggest that its roof pitch may have originally been steeper. The barn features a wide entrance with plain reveals and a segmental arch, although the upper part of this opening is now filled in. To the right of the barn, there is a first-floor window with plain reveals. At the rear of the house, a chamfered cross window provides light to the stair.
