Description

Ivy Cottage with railings to front is an early to mid-19th century cottage located on Henry Street, Lytham St Annes. It is built with white-painted pebble-dash render, likely on a cobble base, and has a slate roof. The cottage follows a single-depth, two-unit plan, with a parallel addition to the rear of the left half. It is of a Georgian style. The two low storeys accommodate two windows, and the facade is nearly symmetrical, featuring a central, round-headed doorway. This doorway has set-in Tuscan quarter columns, a moulded lintel, and a cavetto moulded surround framing a fanlight. There are two unhorned 16-pane sash windows on each floor, and a through-lobby doorway at the right-hand end. Gable chimneys are on the left and a ridge chimney is on the right, next to the passage. Shallow front areas flank the doorway, bordered by tall ornamental cast-iron railings. The cottage forms a group with Nos. 16 and 18 to the left.
