Description

No. 3 Queen Street is a small town house built in the mid-19th century, with some alterations. It features red brick in Flemish bond, sandstone dressings, and a slate roof. The house has a double-depth, double-fronted plan with a back extension, situated on a corner site with its south side facing Henry Street. The design reflects a modest Tudor domestic style.

The building is two storeys high and has three windows, arranged symmetrically except for an added canted bay window on the right. The central doorway is framed by a stone surround and a label. To the left of the doorway, there is a three-light mullion-and-transom window, and three similar windows above, all with stone surrounds, labels, high transoms, and horizontal glazing bars in each light. The later 19th-century canted bay window on the right contains four-pane sash windows.

On the left gable wall, there is an original canted bay window at ground floor level, featuring mullion-and-transom glazing similar to the front windows. The back extension has one window on each floor that matches those at the front, although the upper window has the left light blocked and a 20th-century window inserted to the left.

This property forms a group with the adjoining No. 4 and Nos. 5 and 6 to the right, as well as Nos. 13 and 15 Henry Street at the rear.
