Description
This folly, located approximately 200 metres east of Brindle Lodge, dates from the early to mid 19th century. It is constructed from red brick, red sandstone random rubble, and gritstone. The structure features a small circular tower, about 5 metres high, made of random rubble. At the base of the tower is a small roofless enclosure designed with a loosely Gothic style, which includes two archways and a pointed arched window. There are also some fragments incorporated into the design, such as a large rectangular stone with a fish carved on it and a datestone inscribed with the year 1639. The folly is situated near the Preston to Blackburn railway, suggesting it may have been built in connection with the railway.
