Description
Craggs Farmhouse is a farmhouse dated 1662 on the porch, which has been extended and altered. It is constructed of coursed thin sandstone rubble and features a red tiled roof. The building has a T-plan layout, consisting of a 2-bay end-baffle-entry house with an added third bay and a rear wing, all standing two storeys high.
On the right side of the second bay, there is a gabled single-storey porch with a lintel inscribed in relief with the date 1662. The porch has a studded inner door made of HAW, which is adorned with ornamental strap hinges. To the left of the porch, there are two 5-light double-chamfered mullion windows with hoodmoulds, and above these, two large cross-windows, one of which has a sliding-sash opening. At the left end of the house, there is an inserted door. To the right of the porch, there is a vertical joint, with a door at ground floor level and a window similar to the others at the first floor.
The rear wing features a large external chimney stack on the north side, and in the rear gable, there is one window on each floor, with the upper window being an old cross-window that retains lead cames in one light, suggesting that this part may be older than the front range. The interior has not been inspected.
