Description
Swift's Farmhouse is a farmhouse dated 1739, located on Heskyn Bentley Lane. It is constructed of handmade brick with a slate roof and features a double-depth, two-bay plan. The building stands two storeys high with attics and has a symmetrical façade, complete with gable chimneys and bands on two levels. The central entrance consists of a studded board door adorned with ornamental strap hinges. There are two segmental-headed four-pane sash windows on the ground floor and two on the first floor, along with a blind window in the center, all featuring gauged brick heads. Above the upper band, there is a datestone with a scrolled surround, inscribed with the letter "S." The right return wall displays various altered windows, mostly segmental-headed and dating from 1739. The rear of the farmhouse includes 19th-century windows, some of which are blocked, and a single-storey service wing. Inside, there is a contemporary doglegged staircase that extends the full height of the building, featuring an open string, one or two turned balusters per tread, and a ramped handrail.
