Description
SD 51 NW CHARNOCK RICHARD BACK LANE
4/16 Fisher House Farmhouse 17.4.1967 - II
Small farmhouse, probably early C18 with some late C17 remains, now ruinous. Coursed sandstone rubble with large quoins, stone slate roof with gable chimneys (one of brick, other missing). Rectangular single pile 2 bay plan, gable to road. Two storeys; vertical joints in front and rear walls, which suggest possible alternate rebuilding. Front wall has a door at left end, another right of centre, 2 windows at ground floor and 3 above, all formerly mullioned. The left and right halves differ: left is of flush masonry with chamfered plinth, and its 3 windows had splayed reveals with flush mullions; right is of watershot masonry with lower plinth, and the mullions of its windows were chamfered and recessed (2 remain). Rear wall has a boarded window and a doorway and to the 1st bay the base of walls of former dairy (stone slabs remaining).
