Description
Blue Stone Farmhouse is an early 18th-century farmhouse that has been altered and is now used as a house. It is constructed of handmade brick with a stone-coloured tiled roof. The building has a double-depth, two-bay plan and features a short outshut at the rear of the second bay. The farmhouse is two storeys high and has a symmetrical facade with gable chimneys. There is a gabled single-storey porch that has a round-headed outer opening and a modern glazed inner door. On each floor, there are two windows, all of which are three-light sliding sashes with four panes in each light. The ground floor windows have segmental heads.
At the rear, a notable feature is the stairlight, which is a wooden cross-window with lead cames that create very small panes, similar to the windows at Lane Ends House on Smithy Lane. The interior has not been inspected but is believed to contain large chamfered beams. There is a modern addition at the left end of the farmhouse that matches the style and materials of the original building but is not included in the listing.
