Description
Sibbering Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates from the late 17th century, with 19th-century additions to the side and rear. The facade features large stone blocks, while the rest of the building is constructed from rubble, with the additions being rock-faced. The roofs are covered with stone slates, except for the additions, which use slate. There is currently no chimney at the front of the house.
The building has a rectangular two-bay plan and stands two storeys tall. To the left, there is an attached outhouse, and at the rear, there is a parallel two-storey range made up of two buildings, all from the 19th century. The front of the farmhouse has a chamfered plinth and a modern timber gabled porch at the centre, flanked by three-light stone mullioned windows with hoodmoulds; the window on the right is missing its mullions. On the first floor, offset to the left, there is a stone mullioned stairlight window with two round-headed lights. To the left of this is a three-light double-chamfered stone mullioned window that is missing one mullion, and to the right is an oblong window that is now boarded up. The right return wall features one stone mullioned window on each floor, with two and three lights, both having hoodmoulds. The later additions are considered to be of less architectural interest. The interior is not accessible, but low ceiling beams were reported during the first survey.
