Description

Giant's Hall Farmhouse is a Grade II* listed farmhouse dating from 1675, as indicated by the datestone "WLP/1675". The building features dressed stone with a reconstituted stone roof and consists of two storeys with three bays. The first bay is lower and is an extension, while the third bay projects forward under a gable. The farmhouse has a base and quoins, and its double-chamfered-mullioned windows have label moulds. The ground floor includes 2:5:4-light windows, and the first floor has 2:6:4-light windows, with a three-light attic window in the third bay. There are two brick gable-end stacks and a lateral stack on the right return. The rear of the building features mullioned windows and a 20th-century lean-to projection at the end bay.

Inside, the farmhouse has timber-framed partition walls and a large fireplace with an ovolo moulded bressumer on timber posts, which is open to a recess with a window. The original stair door is now blocked. The third bay contains angle fireplaces, including a Tudor-headed stone fireplace on the first floor, with additional fireplaces likely present. Ovolo moulded beams are also found throughout. At the foot of the stair, there is a six-panel door with butterfly hinges. The extension includes a large fireplace with a bressumer and chamfered beams featuring stepped stops.
