Description
The Boar's Head Public House, likely dating from the 17th century, is located on Wigan Road in Standish-with-Langtree. The building features a plaster exterior, probably over brick and stone, and is topped with a reconstituted stone slate roof. It stands two storeys high and has three bays, with the first bay projecting under a gable and the third bay also gabled. The building has a plain parapet, and the windows are fitted with horizontally sliding sashes; those on the ground floor include glazing bars, with most having fixed upper panes, while the first-floor windows are casements. The entrance is round-headed and has an infilled fan. The first bay displays a triple key to the gable featuring the Standish arms, while the second bay has a painted sign and an ornamental iron bracket for a sign, which is currently missing. The building includes a cross-axial stack and an additional stack on the first bay. Inside, there are chamfered beams and an ovolo moulded fireplace bressumer, with seats flanking a later fireplace.
