Description

North End Farmhouse is a Grade II listed farmhouse dated 1640. It features walls made of lias stone ashlar and brick in Flemish bond, topped with a thatch roof that has gable ends and stone gable copings. The roof is supported by three ogee stone supports at the kneelers. There are two brick stacks located at the center of the left brick section and at the right-hand gable, both adorned with dogtooth cornices.

The building is two storeys high and has five windows, including two 5-light stone mullion windows on the right side of the ground floor, which have ovolo moulds and separate labels above. The windows have fixed glass lights and 20th-century metal casements with leaded glass. The left window has brick blocking on the left light. The brick end of the house features two and three-light casements made of cast iron, metal, and wood. The front door, located at the center of the brick section, is wooden with glass panels and dates from the 20th century. The right-hand end has an original outshut leading to a low rear stone wall, with a continuous thatch catslide.

Inside, the farmhouse has mid-chamfered ceiling beams with roll-and-tongued stops. The stone fireplace features a Tudor-arch head with sunk spandrels, and the lintel is carved with the initials "NCI 1640 IC." The original hearth has been blocked.
