Description

The gates, piers, and front railings to the north side of Chowbent Unitarian Chapel date from around 1721 and the mid-19th century. The ornate cast iron gates are mounted on robustly designed square stone piers that feature moulded bases and capitals, topped with decorative urns. The cast iron railings curve around on either side, connecting to 19th-century piers that also have moulded caps and Gothic panels. The Bolton Old Road side of the graveyard is finished with plain rails and an additional set of piers.
