Description

A post office, later converted into a house, dating to circa 1893 and designed by John Douglas. The building is constructed of English garden wall bond brick with terracotta dressings and a clay tile roof. It has an asymmetrical L-shaped plan extending over two storeys and includes a porch. The facade is arranged in three bays with a decorative brickwork band at first floor level, overhanging eaves, and a steeply pitched roof featuring two prominent gable stacks. A three-light window with a flattened ogee head is present in the first bay, while a similar four-light window, also with a transom, is located in the third bay, which projects as a wing. All windows are detailed in terracotta, with the first-floor windows retaining leaded lights. The timber-framed porch in the second bay has a pitched roof. The first floor features decorative lozenge panels in brick and painted render to the first bay, and to the gable of the third bay. Bays 2 and 3 have two- and three-light mullion windows similar to those described above.
