Description
Richmond House is a house built around 1820 and possibly earlier. It is constructed of brick and has a slate roof. The building is two stories tall with a double-depth, central-staircase plan. There is a single-storey addition to the left and a two-storey addition to the right. The house features three bays with a stone plinth, a moulded eaves cornice, and a brick eaves parapet. The entrance has a pedimented Regency door surround with an ornate fanlight and a six-octagonal-panel door. The ground floor has two windows and the first floor has three windows, all of which are good 20th-century replacement sashes with cambered brick arches and stone sills. There are three ridge chimney stacks. The left-side additions are not of special interest, while the right-side additions appear to be of an earlier date. Inside, the house includes timber beams that are said to come from an earlier 18th-century building that once stood on the site.
