Description
The Fold House is a house that was formerly cottages, dating from the early to mid 18th century. It is built of squared rubble and features a graduated stone slate roof. The building consists of five bays and two storeys, with a single-depth layout except for bay 1, which is double-depth, and bay 5, which has three storeys. The original house comprises the central three bays and includes three-light chamfered stone mullion windows on each floor of the outer bays, with the ground floor windows recessed. The central bay has two similar four-light windows and a single-storey porch wing that features a gable stack and similar windows. Bay 1 is a later addition, featuring three-light flat-faced mullion windows on each floor, four two-light windows in the gable, and a lean-to garage that conceals a door. Bay 5, also an addition, has a later porch and includes two four-light and one five-light flat-faced stone mullion windows. The house has a total of four stone and two brick ridge chimney stacks. The rear of the building has similar windows, although some of the mullions have been removed.
